GE FANUC IC693MDL742 , 12/24 Volt DC Positive Logic 1 Amp Output Module
Product Description
The GE Fanuc IC693MDL742 is a 12/24 volt DC Positive Logic 1 Amp Electronic Short Circuit Protection (ESCP) Output module. Made to work with the Series 90-30 PLC, this ESCPP module has a total of 16 output points. These points are arranged in two individual banks of eight. There is a common power output terminal shared by the points of each group. By design, this output module has positive logic characteristics. This means it sources current from either the user common or else the positive power bus, directing it to the load.
Among the load devices that are compatible with the output characteristics of this module are solenoids, indicators and motor starters. Output devices like these must be connected between the negative power bus and the module output. The user must supply external power to operate the field devices. On top of the ESCP module there are two rows of LED indicators. These show the ON/OFF status of each one of the output points. Each green LED corresponds to the relative output point. Row A1 has the LED indicators for outpoints points 1 to 8, while row B1 is for output points 9 to 16.
Centered between the two rows is a single red LED, labelled “F”. This is a tripped electronic short circuit protection indicator. Whenever any short circuit protection trip happens, this LED will turn on. The common signal for each group is monitored electronically. If a short circuit occurs in the power supply, the output points in that group will turn off and the red LED will turn on. Users must be aware that the protection does not prevent individual outputs from exceeding their ratings. It will only protect the board in the event of a short-circuited load. The module has two electronic short circuit protection circuits.
Each circuit protects eight outputs – the first circuit protects outputs A1 – A8, while the second circuit protects outputs B1 – B8. In order to reset the electronic short circuit protection, users must remove the 12/24 VDC user supply that is connected to the module. This unit has a small door, which opens and closes on a hinge. Whenever this door is closed over, an insert passes through the crevice. The side of the insert on the inside of the door contains circuit wiring information. The outer surface allows for recording of circuit identification information. This is a low-voltage module, which is evident by the blue strip on the edge of the insert. The ESCP module has no fuses. Users can install this particular module in a Series 90-30 PLC system. It is possible to do this in any I/O slot of either a 5-slot or 10-slot baseplate.
The 12 to 24 Volts DC module power supply needs to be removed to reset the electronic short circuit protection in the IC693MDL742 module after it has been triggered. There are 2 short circuit protection circuits on the module, one for each group of output points. The IC693MDL742 module is designed for positive logic characteristics. The output current ratings are 1 Amp per point, 4 Amps per group at 50 degrees Celsius, and 3 Amps per group at 60 degrees Celsius. The maximum current consumption of the IC693MDL742 module is 130 milliamps. The inrush current for the module is 5.2 Amps for 10 milliseconds duration. The maximum output voltage drop is 1.2 Volts. The maximum value for both the off response and on response times is 2 milliseconds. The relative humidity (non-condensing) around the module should be maintained between 5 and 95%.
