GE FANUC IC697MDL654 , 48 VDC Positive/Negative Logic 32-Point Input Module
Product Description
The IC697MDL654 is a 48 VDC Positive/Negative Logic 32-Point Input Module by GE Fanuc for series 90-70 PLCs. The inputs of this module divide into four groups, each having a separate power supply. It can be used to connect to a variety of different switches and electronic proximity sensors with either two or three wire connectors. With some CPUs, it can also apply different input filter time schedules and may cause CPU interruption. To determine compatibility of input devices, such as two-wire sensors, ON and OFF states must be checked.
The IC697MDL654 connects to a backplane connector and secures itself in place with a jackscrew. To remove or install, power must be OFF, and then the user is free to disconnect. Untightening the safety screw and pressing the clips on the back of the cover allow the terminal board to disengage. To wire the terminals, wires #22 to #14 can be used. Once everything is connected, the wire bundle can be secured with a tie at the bottom of the terminal board. A hinged door provides both coverage of the inside of the board as well as space for an identification label.
Every IC697MDL654 module includes a mechanical key. This key hooks onto the board below the connector. When it is attached to a slot, no other type of module can be connected on that slot. To assure proper ventilation, install the module in a way that provides at least six inches of empty space around it.
About IC697MDL654
The IC697MDL654 module is a GE Fanuc positive/negative logic module that operates as input component for industrial machine systems that are based on programmable controllers. The module is part of the GE Fanuc IC697MDL Series 90-70 product line and it has 32 inputs. The IC697MDL654 module is compatible with various electronic devices and it is capable of working as both a positive logic component and a negative logic component. The unit is used with 2-wire and 3-wire switches with a voltage drop of 3 milliAmps at 5 Volts. The module is designed for rack mounting and it does not need much space for proper ventilation. However, the users of the module should follow the manufacturer’s basic guidelines for wiring and installation in order to get the best out of their module.
The IC697MDL654 input module is a 48 Volts rated device and it requires a DC power source. For the 5 Volts input voltage, the module has an off-state current of 0 to 2 milliAmps and it features an off-state voltage of 0 to 10 Volts. The on-state voltage is 33 to 56 Volts and the on-state current is 3 to 8 milliAmps. The 0.3 Amps module has a VME bus and it is designed for racks that accept only secured components. The wiring of the IC697MDL654 module can be done through the terminal board and it allows for wires of different types and sizes. Like any other industrial component that can be damaged due to overheating, the IC697MDL654 module requires some space around it to ventilate and to work properly. The acceptable wires for connecting a module like this are those with sizes from 0.36 to 2.10 square millimeters.
