The AB 1771-DR is an Input/Output logic controller. The controller is best for high-speed presence sensing, canning, bottling, and packaging. It can count high-speed events at a given time and a conveyor for sorting materials. The module is an intelligent I/O module that offers high-speed response separate to the host processor’s scan time. The 1771-DR tracks and monitors up to eight discrete inputs and controls up to four discrete outputs. It accepts input pulses within 50 us to 10 ms programmable ranges. It offers less than 1 ms response time for all outputs when the time of its input filter is 50 us. The module has four 3A rectifier fuses which is 1 per output located on the right circuit board.


The 1771-DR has 8 single-ended and current sinking inputs. It has a 0-4V DC voltage range at Logic 0 while it has 10-24V DC input voltage range at Logic 1. It has a 2-way input current which is 6 mA at 12V DC and 12 mA at 24V DC with input and output isolation voltage of 1500V DC. The backplane current is 1.1 A at 5V DC. The digital input filtering of the module has a range of 50-9999 us which is selected by input pairs. The input frequency of the module is 1 KHz and has a current sourcing 4 single-ended outputs. The 1771-DR has a range of output voltage that reaches 5-24V DC with 2A continuous output current rating. The surge current rating is 4A at 10 ms with VA rating which is 48W per output and 192W per module. The module has a compatible wiring arm with a module location at any 1771 I/O in the I/O chassis group. The keying at the left connector is between pins 10 and 12 and pins 30 and 32 and the keying for the right connector is between pins 10 and 12 and pins 34 and 36. The 1771-DR operates at a temperature range of 0-60°C and a storage temperature of -40-85°C with 5 – 95% relative humidity.
