Ge Fanuc IC697MEM732 , 32-Bit CMOS Expansion Memory, Series 90-70
Product Description
The IC697MEM732 is a 32-Bit CMOS Expansion Memory by GE Fanuc for Series 90-70. It delivers 256 Kbytes of non-volatile flash memory and provides logic and data memory for PCU modules 780, 781, 782, 788, and 789. This board is required for proper operation of these CPUs since the baseboard holds no RAM memory. IC697MEM732 is installed as a daughter board and is situated in the same slot as the module it serves. An additional slot is not required. IC697MEM732 has several features, notably its availability in 128 KB, 256 KBs with 256 KB of non-volatile flash memory, 256 Kbytes, and 512 Kbytes options. It is configurable for both data and program storage. If power is lost, memory is automatically saved by a lithium battery C697ACC701 placed on the baseboard’s housing.
In addition to maintaining user memory if power is removed, the battery operates a calendar clock on the PLC CPU. Remember to always install a new battery before beginning removal of the old one to avoid potential issues. Conveniently, flash memory is retained if power were to be loss without the need for battery connection. Logic program memory is automatically error-checked by the PLC CPU as a background task. Installation of memory expansion IC697MEM732 is straightforward and can easily be installed in the field. The only tool needed is a Phillips screwdriver #1. Simply screw each expansion board screw into the standoffs, tightening firmly. Rack power should be OFF before installing the CPU module. Then the module can be placed in the rack.
About IC697MEM732
The IC697MEM732 module is an expansion memory module manufactured by GE Fanuc. The IC697MEM732 expansion module is classified under GE Series 90-70 and it delivers up to 512 KB of memory. The IC697MEM732 module provides the logic and data memory for the CPU models 780, 781, 782, 788, and 789 from GE Fanuc. The IC697MEM732 module ensures the proper operation of the CPUs on which it is installed, while the baseboard holds the RAM. The IC697MEM732 module is usually installed as the daughterboard in a PLC when it is situated on the same slot as the module that it serves. The IC697MEM732 module does not need an additional slot for installation. The IC697MEM732 module comes with various features and different capacities. These include capacities of 128 KB, 256 KB, and also 512 KB. It is configurable for data and the program storage and when there is a power disconnection, the memory is not lost.
A battery backs up the GE Fanuc IC697MEM732 expansion memory module, so there is no memory loss when the power is disconnected. The IC697MEM732 expansion memory module uses a lithium battery that is installed on the baseboard housing. The battery is useful for ensuring that the calendar clock remains functional even when the power has been removed. Ensure that a new battery has been installed before removing the existing one to avoid a possible power loss. The non-volatile flash memory will be retained during a power loss. The IC697MEM732 module comes with logic program memory that is automatically error-checked by the PLC’s CPU as a background process. The installation of memory expansion module is easy and straightforward. However, it is advisable to have only a qualified technician install the module to ensure a smooth installation process.
