The IC697CPM915 is a 32 MHz, 32-Bit, Floating Point Central Processing Unit in the 90-70 Series manufactured by GE Fanuc. This CPU is programmed by MS-DOS or Windows software to conduct control of machines, processes, and material handling in real time. It communicates with I/O and smart option modules over a rack mounted backplane. Select features include a single slot CPU, 1 MB of same slot battery-backed memory, 12K mixed inputs and outputs, up to 8K analog I/O, and configurable data/program memory. The IC697CPM915 supports floating point calculations and performs at 0.4 microseconds per Boolean function.
A variety of option modules are supported, including all IC697 LAN interface modules, a number of co-processor modules, IC660/661 bus controllers, and discrete/analog I/O modules in the IC697 family. IC697CPM915 stores operating system firmware via flash memory; however, storage of user program is not supported by this module. Firmware is updated without any need for disassembly or EPROM replacement. Firmware updates are conducted by connecting a compatible PC to the serial port and running Loader software provided.
This module can be operated by controlling the three-position RUN / STOP switch or by a remote attached programmer and corresponding software. Program/Configuration data is locked via password or manually using the keyswitch. If the key is “protected,” data can only be adjusted by a programmer linked parallel only to the BTM (bus transmitter module). Four green LEDs on the front of the module display CPU status. IC697CPM915 should be properly installed using the manual provided. The battery can be connected to either connector. The toggle switch should be in the STOP position and the keyswitch in Memory Protection OFF position. Rack power should also be off. Then the module can be installed in slot 1 and power initiated.

About IC697CPM915
The GE Fanuc IC697CPM915 module is a single-slot programmable CPU module. The IC697CPM915 module can be configured by using Windows or MS-DOS based software for the control of material handling systems, machines, and processes. The CPU programming is performed over Ethernet or through the SNP port. Programmer connections through the Ethernet requires the installation of an optional Ethernet module. The IC697CPM915 module communicates with option modules and with I/Os over the rack backplane by using the VME C.1 standard format. The IC697CPM915 is compatible with the IC697CHS750, IC697CHS782, IC697CHS783, IC697CHS790, and the IC697CHS791 racks. The IC697CPM915 module must only be installed in slot 1 of the rack. The operation of the IC697CPM915 module is controlled either by the RUN/STOP switch or remotely through a programmer which is attached to the RS-422/RS-485 serial port on the CPU module.
Four green LEDs are provided on the IC697CPM915 CPU module to display the CPU status. The IC697CPM915 module is a 32 Megahertz CPU module with floating point support. The user memory on the module is 1 Megabyte. A lithium battery installed on the module provides battery backup to the data stored in the user memory. The nominal memory retention time is 6 months when power is not applied to the PLC rack. Flash memory is used for the storage of system firmware. The IC697CPM915 module is designed for use with GE Fanuc Series 60-70 PLC systems. The current consumption of the IC697CPM915 module is 2.8 Amps (nominal) from the 5 Volts DC bus. The available option modules include all IC697 LAN modules, numerous coprocessor modules, and bus controllers for the IC660, IC661 I/O, and IC697 family of analog and discrete I/O modules.
