The 1771-AF PLC 5 Fiber Optic Converter Module by AB is a converter module which converts Twinax electrical signal to light for smooth transmission over fiber-optic cables and then converts the light back to the initial electrical signal. This method of conversion allows for DH+ and remote I/O signals to travel without interference over a fiber-optic cable. The 1771-AF is a chassis-based module which is located on the 1771 I/O chassis and it occupies only a single I/O slot. The module draws a backplane current of 600mA at 5V DC and it dissipates 3W (10.3 thermal dissipation) of heat when operational. The 1771-AF has a point-to-point configuration and can transmit signals over a maximum distance of 6500Ft (2Km) using 100/140μm fiber-optic cable. It can also transmit a signal over a wide distance of 43,000 feet using a combination of Twinax and 100-140μm fiber-optic cable and when modules are paired it can transmit over 10,000 feet using a twinax cable.
The 1771-AF has a receiver sensitivity of -24dBm over 1m distance using a 100-140μm glass fiber-optic cable and it has an optical wavelength of 820nm the module comes with an SMA-905 fiber-optic connector cable and has an optical transmitter power of -21.0dBm for 1m with 50-125μm fibre-optic cable all through -5.6dBn for 1m, using 200-230μm fiber-optic cable.
